Ingredients

  • 1 Stick of Butter (8 tbsp)
  • 3 tbsp cream cheese
  • 16 oz Heavy whipping cream (2 cups)
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 3/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Method

  1. In a sauce pan, combine heavy whipping cream, cream cheese, and butter on medium heat. Heat until fully melted and combined, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
  2. Once melted, add parmesan cheese, garlic, salt and pepper.
  3. Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Sauce will thicken as it cooks. It should coat the back of a spoon when finished. If the sauce is still too thin for your preference, add more cheese. Enjoy!

Notes

Recipe Notes
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the smoothest, creamiest sauce
  • Keep the heat at medium to low to prevent the cream from scorching
  • Stir occasionally during the 30 minute simmer so the sauce does not stick
  • For a thicker sauce, add 1 to 2 tablespoons more Parmesan
  • For a thinner sauce, splash in extra heavy cream a little at a time
  • Reheat gently on the stovetop with a bit of cream if the sauce thickens in the fridge
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days
  • This recipe serves 4 to 6 depending on how saucy you like your pasta
