Ingredients
Method
- In a sauce pan, combine heavy whipping cream, cream cheese, and butter on medium heat. Heat until fully melted and combined, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
- Once melted, add parmesan cheese, garlic, salt and pepper.
- Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Sauce will thicken as it cooks. It should coat the back of a spoon when finished. If the sauce is still too thin for your preference, add more cheese. Enjoy!
Notes
Recipe Notes
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for the smoothest, creamiest sauce
- Keep the heat at medium to low to prevent the cream from scorching
- Stir occasionally during the 30 minute simmer so the sauce does not stick
- For a thicker sauce, add 1 to 2 tablespoons more Parmesan
- For a thinner sauce, splash in extra heavy cream a little at a time
- Reheat gently on the stovetop with a bit of cream if the sauce thickens in the fridge
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days
- This recipe serves 4 to 6 depending on how saucy you like your pasta
