Small Space, BIG dreams: A blog about homesteading, diy, and creating a cozy life ☕️
Follow as we turn our historical building into our dream home! ✨️

This place has always been more than a building to This place has always been more than a building to me. It’s a picture of the life I’ve dreamed about for so many years.

A slower life. A beautiful home. A place filled with family, good food, old things with stories, gardens, hard work, and the simple joys of everyday life.

I can’t see the finished picture yet. There is still so much to do, and sometimes the road feels much longer than I ever imagined.

But I’m learning to have faith in the life I’m building, even when I can’t see it clearly yet.

Because sometimes the greatest act of faith is building something you cannot yet see. 🤍

And for now, we’ll keep laying the next stone, planting the next seed, and taking the next step.

One day, I hope I’ll look around and realize I’m standing inside the life I spent all those years dreaming about. 🙏

#OurManorOnMain #BuildingADream #DreamHome #perserverance
I’ve been working toward this dream since 2012. T I’ve been working toward this dream since 2012.

There have been seasons when progress felt slow, life got in the way, and I wondered if I’d ever actually get to see this place finished. Sometimes I look at how far we’ve come and feel proud. Other times, I look at everything that’s still left and wonder, Are we ever going to get there?

But I’m learning that a dream doesn’t become less meaningful simply because it takes longer than you imagined.

God has taught me a lot in the waiting: patience, faith, perseverance, and the courage to keep building even when I can’t see the finished picture yet.

So I’m still here. Still dreaming. Still renovating. Still believing.

And maybe that’s the message someone else needs today, too:

Don’t give up on the life you’ve been dreaming about just because it’s taking longer than you planned. Keep building. Keep believing. Trust the process. 🤍

POV: You realize happiness was simpler than you th POV: You realize happiness was simpler than you thought.

I’m learning that joy doesn’t always come from the big milestones. Sometimes it’s collecting eggs, watering the garden, watching the chickens scratch around the yard, and ending the day in a lawn chair with nowhere else I’d rather be.

This little backyard reminds me that a beautiful life isn’t built all at once. It’s grown slowly, one ordinary day at a time.

If this kind of slow living speaks to you, you’re in the right place. 🤍🌿

I used to believe happiness would come when everyt I used to believe happiness would come when everything was finally finished.

When the renovation was complete.
When every project was checked off.
When life finally looked the way I’d imagined.

Lately, I’m realizing that some of my favorite moments happen long before any of that.

They’re found in slow afternoons, fresh air, curious chickens, and the quiet reminder that this dream is already unfolding one ordinary day at a time.

Maybe we don’t have to wait for “someday” to enjoy the life we’re building. 🤍

I’ve been using freshly milled flour for about a y I’ve been using freshly milled flour for about a year and a half now, and it has completely changed the way I bake.

There’s a deeper flavor to everything, and I love knowing that the flour I’m using is truly fresh and full of the nutrients naturally found in the grain. A lot of store-bought flour sits on shelves for long periods of time and is often bleached or heavily processed, but freshly milled flour feels much closer to the way it was originally intended to be used.

I can honestly tell a difference in how I feel after eating it, too.

But beyond all of that, milling flour at home has made me feel more connected to the process of baking itself. Watching whole grains turn into soft flour right in your own kitchen is kind of amazing. It slows things down in the best way and makes homemade bread, muffins, pancakes, and pastries feel even more meaningful.

After being sold out and waitlisted for months, the Nutrimill is finally back in stock again. If you’ve been wanting to start baking with fresh-milled flour, now is probably the perfect time 🤍

There was a stained glass window in the cabin bath There was a stained glass window in the cabin bathroom that I can’t stop thinking about.

Old wood, a simple little latch, and every morning you’d open it up and the forest would just pour in. Birdsong, cool air, soft light spilling across the log walls. It was the kind of quiet that doesn’t feel empty, it feels full.

That whole weekend was like that. Cornhole in the yard, campfire nights, good food, long hikes, and the kind of family time that settles deep into you.

And I keep thinking about how easy it is to get so focused on building a life that we forget to actually live it.

Time is moving whether we notice or not. The kids are growing. Seasons are changing. Life is happening right now.

I’m glad we slowed down long enough to feel it.

I made bread yesterday and it is not “perfect” sou I made bread yesterday and it is not “perfect” sourdough by internet standards.

No dramatic open crumb. No picture-perfect scoring.

But it is soft, delicious, and honestly one of my favorite loaves I’ve ever made.

And it reminded me that bread was never meant to be a performance. It was meant to feed people.

So if you are feeling intimidated by sourdough or overthinking every step, just start.

Make the bread. Feed your family. Learn as you go.

Perfection is not the goal. Bread is.

There’s nothing better than a slow morning with a stack of warm, golden sourdough waffles (or pancakes!) 🧇✨This recipe is flexible depending on your schedule. You can make the batter the same day, or let it ferment overnight for a deeper sourdough flavor and a little more convenience in the morning. They’re hearty, delicious, and perfect for meal prep! Make a big batch, freeze the extras, and then just pop them in the toaster or toaster oven for an easy breakfast on busy mornings. They’re great for kids, quick weekday breakfasts, or anyone who wants something homemade without the extra work.If you want to take this recipe to the next level, try making it with freshly milled whole wheat flour. The flavor is incredible. It adds a beautiful nuttiness and depth that you just don’t get from regular flour, while also giving you the benefits of using the whole grain, including more fiber and nutrients. But don’t worry if you don’t have a grain mill! These sourdough waffles are still absolutely delicious with the flour you have on hand.A little sourdough magic, a little preparation, and breakfast is ready to go. 🤎Recipe is linked below! … See MoreSee Less
