Monday was James’ 18th birthday (seriously where h Monday was James’ 18th birthday (seriously where has the time gone?!) and we decided to visit one of our favorite theme parks. Inside sits The Wilderness Church where church services are held every week.

It is a beautiful church, yes, but what makes this little church even more special to me is that it was my late grandmother’s schoolhouse. The building was moved from its original location and placed in this theme park as a part of some local preservation efforts.

A few years back, my mom and I went to the historical society in the area and came across attendance records for this little school from back in 1937. My grandmother was only 7 years old at the time. It showed when her and her siblings did not attend due to inclement weather or if they stayed home to help out on the farm. It was really amazing to discover that! Back then they all walked over several fields and deep woods to get to school. I can imagine her younger self and all the adventures she had on those school days and how different things were back then.

It’s a treasure to be able to go visit the place that she attended school all those years ago. In a lot of ways it makes me feel more connected to her every time I visit. 💕

I’ve been watching Gilmore Girls this fall, so nat I’ve been watching Gilmore Girls this fall, so naturally I’ve been craving all the cozy fall things. ☕️🍂

And honestly, pumpkin is always at the top of that list for me anyway.

So when I learned about pumpkin spice pancakes topped with cinnamon sugar honey butter, I knew I needed to make them.

One morning, I whipped these up for Jason and me and instantly became completely obsessed. 🤎

They’re fluffy.
They’re perfectly pumpkiny.
They literally melt in your mouth.

And the cinnamon sugar honey butter? You absolutely cannot skip it. It takes these pancakes OVER THE TOP.

I’m not exaggerating when I say these easily make my top three recipes I’ve ever created for the blog. 🎃🥞

If you’re looking for the perfect fall breakfast, make these. They’re basically Gilmore Girls in pancake form. 😂

Cozy morning + pumpkin pancakes + a big cup of coffee = perfection.

Comment “recipe” and I’ll send it to you or find it on the blog 🥞☕️

I wanted to recreate that creamy pumpkin flavor I love in my favorite fall coffee drinks without spending $8 every time I wanted a pumpkin spice latte, so I made my own homemade pumpkin sauce!

It’s made with just 5 simple ingredients and takes minutes to mix together. Keep it in the fridge all week and add it to coffee, chai tea, milk for a pumpkin spice milk, or even drizzle it over ice cream.

Basically, if you love pumpkin spice season as much as I do, you need a jar of this in your fridge.

I had these little ornate ornaments tucked away fo I had these little ornate ornaments tucked away for years. They were originally silver and had mirrors inside, but I always loved the frames more than the mirrors themselves.

So I finally gave them a little makeover with dark paint and Antique Gold Rub ’n Buff, made new inserts, and filled them with tiny vintage artwork. Some of the prints came from free artwork I found online, and a couple came from a $1 box of prints I found at a garage sale.

And the little lady holding her white puppy? 🥹 That one had to stay because she reminds me of my own little white girl, Scarlett. 🤍🐶

Four tiny frames, a few magnets, and suddenly my refrigerator feels a whole lot more like part of the house.

A little DIY fridge decor can make such a difference.

The complete Savory Soup Sundays soup index is available so you can browse all of the cozy recipes from last year alongside this year’s new soups.

So consider this your official invitation to follow along. A new soup every Sunday through October. 🍂🥣

Pumpkin + chocolate + flaky sea salt = fall perfec Pumpkin + chocolate + flaky sea salt = fall perfection. 🎃🍫

I had some pumpkin puree left in the fridge and decided to experiment with adding a brown sugar pumpkin spice swirl to my favorite kind of brownie: SUPER fudgy.

Then I finished them with flaky sea salt.

And you guys… 🤎

These might be the fudgiest brownies I’ve ever made.

The pumpkin flavor comes through beautifully without overpowering the rich chocolate, and the flaky sea salt adds just the right balance of salty and sweet.

Basically, pumpkin pie meets the fudgiest brownie you’ve ever eaten.

And now I’m wondering why I haven’t been putting pumpkin and chocolate together like this all along. 😂

So… I bought some brand-new feather pillows off Ma So… I bought some brand-new feather pillows off Marketplace. The woman had never even used them, and since I’m transitioning the house for fall, I bought new pillow covers and thought I’d give the pillows a wash before putting everything out.

I washed them.
I dried them.
And then I opened my dryer.

Y’all. 😂

It looked like a bird had exploded in my dryer.

There were black and white feathers EVERYWHERE. In the drum. In the lint trap. All over the floor. Just… feathers. 😂

Turns out, one of the seams on one of the pillows had come loose, and apparently the dryer decided to turn it into a bird cannon.

So now I’m standing here picking feathers out of my dryer, trying to figure out how to get them all back into the pillow, and then I’m going to stitch the seam back up and pretend none of this ever happened. 😂

Because apparently this is just part of getting the house ready for fall.

Please tell me I’m not the only person who has had a pillow completely betray them in the dryer. 😂

Has this ever happened to you?

This place has always been more than a building to This place has always been more than a building to me. It’s a picture of the life I’ve dreamed about for so many years.

A slower life. A beautiful home. A place filled with family, good food, old things with stories, gardens, hard work, and the simple joys of everyday life.

I can’t see the finished picture yet. There is still so much to do, and sometimes the road feels much longer than I ever imagined.

But I’m learning to have faith in the life I’m building, even when I can’t see it clearly yet.

Because sometimes the greatest act of faith is building something you cannot yet see. 🤍

And for now, we’ll keep laying the next stone, planting the next seed, and taking the next step.

One day, I hope I’ll look around and realize I’m standing inside the life I spent all those years dreaming about. 🙏

I’ve been working toward this dream since 2012. T I’ve been working toward this dream since 2012.

There have been seasons when progress felt slow, life got in the way, and I wondered if I’d ever actually get to see this place finished. Sometimes I look at how far we’ve come and feel proud. Other times, I look at everything that’s still left and wonder, Are we ever going to get there?

But I’m learning that a dream doesn’t become less meaningful simply because it takes longer than you imagined.

God has taught me a lot in the waiting: patience, faith, perseverance, and the courage to keep building even when I can’t see the finished picture yet.

So I’m still here. Still dreaming. Still renovating. Still believing.

And maybe that’s the message someone else needs today, too:

Don’t give up on the life you’ve been dreaming about just because it’s taking longer than you planned. Keep building. Keep believing. Trust the process. 🤍

These high-protein breakfast burritos have become one of my favorite make-ahead breakfasts. They’re filled with chicken, eggs, bacon, black beans, and cheddar cheese, then toasted until perfectly crispy on the outside with a warm, cheesy center.

POV: You realize happiness was simpler than you th POV: You realize happiness was simpler than you thought.

I’m learning that joy doesn’t always come from the big milestones. Sometimes it’s collecting eggs, watering the garden, watching the chickens scratch around the yard, and ending the day in a lawn chair with nowhere else I’d rather be.

This little backyard reminds me that a beautiful life isn’t built all at once. It’s grown slowly, one ordinary day at a time.

If this kind of slow living speaks to you, you’re in the right place. 🤍🌿

I used to believe happiness would come when everyt I used to believe happiness would come when everything was finally finished.

When the renovation was complete.
When every project was checked off.
When life finally looked the way I’d imagined.

Lately, I’m realizing that some of my favorite moments happen long before any of that.

They’re found in slow afternoons, fresh air, curious chickens, and the quiet reminder that this dream is already unfolding one ordinary day at a time.

Maybe we don’t have to wait for “someday” to enjoy the life we’re building. 🤍
