SWEET AND SALTY CHRISTMAS CANDY
The holidays are my favorite time of year with the beautiful decorations, cheery music, family time, and amazing food! This sweet and salty Christmas candy is the perfect addition to your holiday food plans. Set out as a snack or gift it to friends and family. It’s as easy as it is delicious!
Why I love this recipe
It is DELICIOUS
Ever since I had my first taste of chocolate covered potato chips, I became completely infatuated with the sweet and salty combination. Honestly, I was not quite sure at first. The idea of mixing the two seemed absurd to me but oh goodness….what a delectable union! Luckily I’m not the only one who feels this way. There are sweet and salty fusions everywhere! For example, this Christmas crack recipe, salted caramel Starbucks latte ( my fav!), and candied bacon treats are prime examples that this is a movement in the way we snack. This recipe for Sweet and Salty Christmas candy is the perfect ratio of saltiness and sweetness and is a hit in my household. I know it will be in yours!
It is Easy to Make
With only two ingredients and about 10 minutes of time from start to finish, this recipe is great to whip up in a hurry.
How to Make Sweet and Salty Christmas Candy
This recipe is very easy to make because it takes less than 10 minutes and only has 5 easy steps.
PREP
Preheat oven to 250°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Unwrap Rolo candies and set aside.
PLACE
Place pretzels on the baking sheet. Set one Rolo candy on each pretzel.
BAKE
Bake in oven until the chocolate softens. This will take less than a minute so stay nearby. You do not want the chocolate to fully melt!
FINISH
Once the chocolate has softened, remove tray from oven. Place a second pretzel on top of the Rolo candies and gently press down forming a sandwich. Let completely cool. Enjoy!
How to Store Sweet and Salty Christmas Candy
Store in an airtight container for one week or in the fridge for 2 weeks. You may also freeze for longer storage although I suspect you will not need to! 😉
Flavor Variations
There are a TON of options when it comes to these cutie sweet treats. Here are a few favorites:
- Top with a pecan – ditch the pretzel topper and press a pecan on top of the softened Rolo instead.
- Top with an M&M – for some extra chocolate, crunch, and color, top each softened Rolo with an M&M instead of a pretzel.
- Drizzle with white chocolate – drizzle the pretzel sandwiched Rolo with white chocolate, and if you’re feeling really festive, a shake or two of sprinkles!
