Cozy Homemade Pumpkin Butter for Fall Mornings
There’s something about the crisp air of early fall that calls for warm, comforting flavors. During the “Ber” months, one of my biggest cravings is pumpkin. I drink pumpkin lattes, bake pumpkin muffins, and I’m always looking for ways to add it to my food and beverages. It just makes me happy. This homemade pumpkin butter is thick, sweet, and perfectly spiced. It is a little jar of autumn magic that makes toast, pancakes, or oatmeal taste like pure fall.

Tips for the best Pumpkin Butter
- Use fresh pumpkin pie spice for the brightest flavor
- Apple cider adds warmth and depth if you want a slightly richer taste
- Adjust sweetness to your liking with more or less brown sugar or maple syrup

Using Fresh Pumpkin
If you want to make this with fresh pumpkin:
- Cut a small sugar or pie pumpkin in half and scoop out the seeds.
- Roast cut-side down on a baking sheet at 400°F for 40–50 minutes or until tender.
- Scoop the flesh into a blender or food processor and puree until smooth.
- Measure 2 cups of the puree for this recipe and follow as usual.
I made this little graphic to show you the steps in hopes it will be helpful. If you have ever made spaghetti squash, it is very similar.

Nutrition Perks of Pumpkin
Pumpkin is full of nutrients that make this fall treat a little extra wholesome:
- High in vitamin A, which supports healthy vision
- Packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals
- Low in calories but high in fiber, which keeps you full
- Adds natural sweetness and moisture to recipes without extra sugar

🎁 Gift Ideas
Homemade pumpkin butter is perfect for sharing with friends and family:
- Fill small jars and tie with a ribbon for a thoughtful gift
- Add a handwritten tag with a cozy note or a suggested use
- Include in a fall-themed gift basket with fall candles (this is one of my favs), mugs (I LOVE this one!), or homemade bread

How to Enjoy

- Swirl into oatmeal or yogurt for an easy fall treat
